So why Mos Eisley? For those of you not familiar with Star Wars, Mos Eisley is a spaceport on the dessert planet of Tatooine. The city is home to many alien races with most of them being less than honorable. Obi Wan Kenobi described it to Luke as, "Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." And that is one of the reasons why I find it so interesting. In just three short sentences, we are told the essence of what this city is all about. I grew up watching Star Wars on the big 17 inch LaserDiscs that my father bought in the 80's. This fun space adventure film had a classic characteristics of Greek mythology in the modern science fiction setting. The blending of the old and the new was a match just waiting to happen. So if you haven't see the original Star Wars films, A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983), then I would recommend you take the time to check them out.
